Call To Actions - CTAs

Web Cube has an application that supports Calls To Action. These are small in-site links that promote certain aspects of the site. CTAs are used to coax users to view promotional pages, sale categories, products, blog entries or any other content that you wish to highlight on your site. In Web Cube, CTAs are a graphical links.


First, you have to configure your CTA.


1. Click on the CMS tab.

2. Under the Banners section click on the Call to actions menu item.



3. Click on the Add call to action button.



4. Write a key for this CTA. 



5. Write a title. This can be used in custom templates to know the title text next to the CTA.



6. This is the default link for this CTA. 



7. Specify the width for this CTA. 



8. Specify the height for this CTA.



9. If the CTA contains multiple CTA items like images you can specify the display interval of each CTA item.



10. Select the sites where this CTA will be displayed.

11. Now let's upload an image for this CTA. Click on the Choose File button to select an image from your computer.



12. Write an Alternate Text for this image. This is used for SEO purposes.



13. If  you would like to use a flash file instead click on the Choose File button and select a file from your computer.



14. You can specify a link for this image. This will override the default CTA link.



15. Set the order in which this item will be displayed. Lower values have higher priority.



16. Save.

Also, be sure to remember the key you used for this CTA. You will need it for the next step.

Note: When setting a CTA link, you can point to external sites by starting the link with http:// internal links can start with / to indicate that they are absolute URLs within the context of your web site.


Now that your CTA is saved, you can reference it from your templates by adding the following to your template:

{% load cta_tags %}

{% show_cta "your-cta-key" %}

The load cta_tags tells the Django template engine to load the custom CTA tags provided by web cube. Calling show_cta and replacing your-cta-key with whatever key you chose will display a link around the image that you chose.
